Hold Your Breath!

Okay, I know I am his mom, but seriously, Noah is an AWESOME swimmer!! I mean i knew he was good at the end of last summer when he totally surprised Allen and I by swimming on his own a short distance but this summer he has just blown us away!! Allen and I signed him up for swim lessons and I just can't stress enough how much I LOVE his instructor!

Noah is in the class with 2 brothers (ages 4 and 5 1/2). Now you will think I am exaggerating but the brothers cry and scream the entire class. I mean it, the entire class!! It really is annoying and distracting and Noah spends most of the class holding his ears because it is so loud from the crying. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for encouraging kids to get past their fears but if they are afraid of the water i don't know where the boundry is of encouraging a child and frightening them by making them get in. Thankfully I have never had to cross that line because my child is not afraid of ANYTHING dangerous...he thrives on it! Anyway, the instructor does a great job of not letting the crying interfere with his lessons, he makes the boys get in and often forces them. Their mom has expressed over and over how they don't do that when they are at their neighborhood pool, only when they go to the lessons. The instructor said that is exactly why he forces them, because it isn't a fear of the water problem, it is a parenting problem. Personally I think the parents should be asked to wait outside because the parents jump at every cry and scream the boys make, only making the boys cry and scream louder...a never ending cycle. Okay so now that I have gone off on my tantrum, i will post a picture of Noah swimming....
